It is with pride that I take over as the chair of the Braw Lads' Executive Council. With the pandemic dictating how we have conducted our lives over the past two years, these restrictions have, regrettably, meant that I have not been able to fulfill my role as Vice-Chairman.
Whilst I have served on the Executive for many years and gained valuable experience, I know that I can rely on an excellent, hard working committee that has a wealth of knowledge to ensure that we deliver the 2022 Gathering. Naturally, additional support from Ex-Gathering Principal's and Ex-Gathering President's is on hand should it be required.
With that in mind we are currently preparing for a 2022 Gathering, we are working on the basis that it will take place in its entirety, we may have to "work around" some residual restrictions but we hope that those will diminish as time goes on.
We have two Principal's that are to be congratulated for their patience over the last two years, they are eager for the 22nd April (2022) at 8 pm so they can be announced to the town as Braw Lad and Braw Lass for 2022. I know that they are looking forward to their declaration and to the events that will unfold as they attend the festivities throughout the Borders.
I am sure that we are all looking for a degree of normality to return to our lives. It is the Braw Lads' Executive Council's intention to ensure that the Gathering is seen as a positive step in the rebuilding of our community so that we can, once again, celebrate the traditions of our great town.
On behalf of the Braw Lads' Executive Council and those involved with the Gathering we ask that you stay safe and we look forward to your support in the summer.
